The awareness about the eagle brand of vehicles is very little. Even today many people know very little about the Eagle brand while some people do not have any knowledge that this brand once existed. The Eagle brand was a little known brand in the automobile market and the likelihood was that many a time people must have mistaken them for a Dodge, Plymouth, or Chrysler.

At one point in time, Eagle was a small division of the Chrysler Corporation. However, not only was the division unpopular but was also short-lived. Chrysler was able to acquire American Motor Corporation (AMC) in 1987 and it was then that the Eagle division was established. The name was derived from the AMC Eagle, which was one of the last vehicles manufactured by AMC as an independent corporation.

In fact, under the Eagle brand there were quite a few cars and vehicles which were manufactured. Prominent among them were the Eagle Premier, Eagle Talon, Eagle Medallion, Eagle Summit, and Eagle Vision. The designing, however, of all these vehicles was not done by Chrysler. For instance, Renault was instrumental in designing the Eagle Premier and the Eagle Medallion. On the other hand, Mitsubishi is credited with the designing of the Eagle Summit and the Eagle Talon. Among the Eagle vehicles, Chrysler can only lay claim to the Eagle Vision's design as being its own.

In about a decade of its existence, the quantity of Eagle vehicles models manufactured should have been sufficient to see them through the corridors of success. As a matter of fact, the quality of the Eagle vehicles was at par and comparable with all the other Chrysler, Dodge and Plymouth vehicles of the same size and the same level of category. The problem however, did not lie with Eagle. It was a problem of brand recognition. With many a Chrysler vehicle having the same model name and in actual fact looking very similar to the Eagle models, many people would actually confuse them with Plymouth, Dodge, Chrysler, or even at times the Mitsubishi variety.
